Charlotte Cane MP: I’ll Keep Pushing the Government on NHS Funding for Ely and East Cambridgeshire
Charlotte Cane, the Liberal Democrat MP for Ely and East Cambridgeshire, has responded to the recent Budget announcement, emphasising that the promised increase in NHS funding must lead to real improvements in services for local residents.
“I am glad the government has responded to the Liberal Democrats call for more funding for the NHS, but they need to reform social care if they are really going to fix our NHS.”
Charlotte Cane MP pledged to “hold the government to account” on these promises, highlighting that meaningful reform in social care is also needed to relieve pressure on the NHS, ensuring older and disabled residents get the support they need and deserve.
In response to the Budget, the Lib Dem MP for Ely and East Cambridgeshire said:
“I will do everything in my power to hold the government to account for the people of Ely and East Cambridgeshire following today’s Budget announcements on NHS funding. My constituency has been a ‘Dental Desert’ for far too long - people should be able to see an NHS dentist or their GP when they need to.
“I am alarmed by the implications of the Budget changes for rural areas like ours, especially concerning the family farm tax, which poses a serious threat to local farmers. At the last election, the Liberal Democrats advocated for an additional £1 billion to support British farmers, and I will remain a strong voice for our rural community.”
